Piano students, organ preludes and neighbor ladies.

It may have been Helen of Troy whose legendary beauty launched a thousand ships and war between nations. But it was Helen of Boyd whose prowess at the keyboard, her mirthful Norwegian plain-speaking and her sweet tooth launched a thousand piano students in Western Minnesota . Jon Skaalen's homage to a woman who spent over a half century as a church organist celebrates the simple (if fictional) pleasures remembered growing up in a small town of gardeners, baking grandmas and even a stern father who couldn't help but love the music created by Helen of Boyd.
